  Prologue

  Red Colson

“Who’s the blonde all over Goat?” I asked my husband Joe.

“That’s Eve, Myk’s old lady.” He lifted Emmy up over his head making her laugh.

“Myk? As in Mykela Colson?” I’ve only met her once, and I’d rather not have another run in with her in my bar.

“The one and only.” He turned Emmy around and set her on his broad shoulders.

“Rut ro. Does Goat know who she is?”

He shrugged. “Fuck if I know.”

“Language Joe.” My daughter started singing her Fuck Song using his head for a drum set. “See what you did?? Who taught her that shit anyway??” I stood removing the cursing drummer. “Emmy stop. You can’t sing that song.”

“Well fuck.” She replied and pretended to pout.

“Enough.” I tried not to laugh. “No more or I’ll wash your mouth out with vinegar.” I tried soap last week. She liked it. Emily Colson is every bit her father. Difficult at best, and cusses like a sailor. She’s also fast like her father. I punched Joe in the gut the other day when he mentioned having another child.

Goat was using his usual charm to coerce this Eve towards the hallway the leads to the apartments when the front door to the bar slammed open with a force usually reserved for the male Colson’s.

I backed up taking Emmy into the kitchen to hand her off to her favorite cook Kevin. “Keep her in the kitchen. Ply her with cookies if you have to. I’m about to bust up a bar fight.”

He nodded and locked the kitchen doors behind him. I put the E-bar in place after a fight fell into my kitchen a few months ago destroying almost as much food as appliances.

I walked up to Myk as the rest of the bar stepped out of her way reminding me of parting seas. “Take it outside Myk.”

“Fuck off Red.” She ground out before her fist struck the side of Goat’s head.

Eve screamed and ran down the hall. Myk jumped on Goat and proceeded to beat the living shit out of him. By the time Gunner, Joe, Wrangler, and Grizz pulled her off his nose was broken and he could only see out of one eye. Myk is a nasty little street fighter. I can hold my own, and I wouldn’t take her on, even in the ring with gloves on.

Slider isn’t here or Myk would be getting her ass kicked in that ring right about now. The guys wrestled Myk into the old apartment where they tied her to a chair. Her mouth was as dangerous as her fists so they gagged her to get a word in edgewise.

I called Salina and put two prospects on her. After telling Salina what happened shit slowly hit the fan. Goat ended up in the hospital with what we’re hoping isn’t a broken jaw. She broke two of his fingers, and her kicking likely bruised an organ or two as the guys tried to pry her off him. Poor Goat. He’s a slut, but he didn’t deserve that.

Slider showed up and kicked everyone out of the apartment to have a private word with Myk. To my surprise nobody yelled, so we couldn’t hear what he was saying to her, or her to him.

When the door opened Myk was still tied to the chair, but now she looked defeated. Slider put his phone to his ear.

  Cord Colson

My phone rang before I could finish getting my nut with Denise making me curse. “Shit.” I pulled out and smacked her ass. “Get dressed.” I know this ringtone so I closed my bedroom door behind me and waited to answer it in the kitchen, well out of earshot of a nosy woman.

  “Slider? You okay bro?”

“I am. Gloat’s not. Your wife beat the shit out of my second in command.” He complained.

I flipped on the coffee pot. “Why would she do that? Did he hit on her?”

“No. He’s horny, not stupid. Looks like your wife’s little slut decided to top off an argument they had by fucking him.”

“Wait. What slut? What are you talking about?”

“Myk took in a busty little blonde about four years ago. Every now and then they show up here for a few drinks. Eve showed up alone this time. I’m not sure Goat knew who she was without Myk at her side.” He sounds tired.

“What did she do?” I pinched my nose and closed my eyes.

“She beat the shit out of Goat. Fucked him up pretty good. I can’t let her get away with this Cord. She’s your wife bro. Come get her, or I’ll have Goat file charges and Georgia see them through.” His threat made me punch a hole in a cabinet door.

  “Where is she now?”

“Tied to a chair in the old apartment. She flat out told me if I let her go she’s going to kill Eve. If it was anyone else I wouldn’t believe her, but we both know she can and will kill the poor woman.”

“Yeah, she definitely would. Alright. Give me ten hours. My chopper is on it’s way back now from picking up some lumber. I need to unload and refuel, then I’ll be right there.”

“I want her out of my state Cord. Take her home to Montana. If I see her again without you I’ll have Gunner make her disappear. I don’t give a fuck if the bitch carries our name, that’s your fucking fault, but I will NOT tolerate someone beating up on my VP under my roof. Do you understand me??” Boy he is pissed, not that I blame him.

“Yes sir. I’m on my way.”

“You better be. I’m going to go see my boy. Salina-“ The phone disconnected so I missed the rest of what he said.

I joined Denise for a shower and told her not to come up to the house again for a while. I lied and said I’d be having business associates in for a private vacation. Nobody up here knows I’m married to the daughter of a serial killer, and I damn sure don’t need them finding out. I also don’t need them interacting with my temperamental and often violent wife.

Her father, Machete, was a serial killer and the Sargent at Arms for the club’s old President, Bull. Bull is my father. He’s retired and sitting in a rocking chair somewhere in Colorado. I don’t give a rat’s ass about him, but my brothers and I have no beefs.

Machete was Bull’s Sargent and confidant back in the day. Nobody knew he was a serial killer until everything hit the fan years ago. I tried to save Mykela. Even married her to both control and protect her. I’m the only one who can control her, but I never could protect her, especially from herself. Aside from being up her ass twenty-four-seven, there is no saving Myk.

Legally I can’t fly without a co-pilot due to the size of chopper so I recruited my foreman and best friend Larry to go with me. Along the way I gave him the rundown without the gory details. Basically we’re going to b
ring my troublesome wife home so she doesn’t wind up in prison for assault.

Larry found the new information fascinating, and even got a good laugh out of some of the lighter stories I shared involving my wife. The stroll down memory lane made me both nostalgic and annoyed. I miss my damn wife. I’m just not sure I can handle her any better now than I could seven years ago when she left me up here on this mountain.

Slider and I had a good talk before I went to find my wife. I took a deep breath and opened the door to find her head down sound asleep in the chair.

Because I’m a dick I slammed the door behind me jerking her awake.

Her eyes got really big and I swear she said, “Oh shit.” behind the gag.

I moved the gag down to her neck and backed up crossing my arms over my chest. “How many did it take to tie you up?”

“Five.” She spat whatever sweat was on the bandana onto the floor to her right.

“Why’d you take it out on Goat? He probably didn’t even know who she was.”

She shrugged. “It didn’t occur to me to kill her until after I kicked his ass.”

“You still going to kill her?”

  She shrugged again. “Maybe.”

“Slider is kicking you out of Arizona. Since I still have the unfortunate privilege of being your husband, it’s on me to babysit your ass. You’re coming home to Montana.”

“You still live up on that damn mountain?”

“I do. What do you want to do about Eve? She living with you?”

“I’m not going anywhere. Fuck you. Fuck Slider. I have a job here. I’ll deal with Eve.”

I shook my head and walked out closing the door behind me. The busty little blonde that’s been described to me looked up from where she’s leaning on the opposite wall. “She okay?”

“She’s always okay. I take it you’re Eve?”

She nodded. “This is all my fault. I shouldn’t have taunted her like that. I was just mad.”

“Yeah, I don’t really give a shit what your problem is. I’m taking Myk home to Montana where I can keep an eye on her. As you probably know Slider is kicking her out of Arizona. Does Myk still have that house in Scottsdale?”

She nodded. “I moved in a few years ago.”

“Stay as long as you want, just pay the utilities. I’ll cover the taxes. You should find a new situation in the next year as I’ll be selling it as soon as I get around to it.”

She stepped forward stopping me from leaving. “Wait. Can I see her? I need to apologize.”

“No. You’re done. Go home. Forget about Myk. You never really knew her anyway.” I moved her gently aside, but she leaned back in stopping me again.

Big brown eyes begged along with her words. “Please. I love her. I can’t live without her.”

“She almost killed you last night. She still might. You’re not safe within a hundred miles of my wife. Get out of here, and don’t look back.” That’s the best advice I can give her.

“NOOO!!! Mykela!!” She crashed through the door before I could catch her.

Myk launched herself chair and all at Eve knocking them both out into the hall. I pulled her off and threw her and the chair onto the bed, which was a mistake because that gave Myk leverage to get free. Not good.

Myk was up and trying to get past me to Eve in no time. I’m the only one fast and strong enough to hold her down, but it still takes me a minute. Somebody threw me some rope so I can hog tie her.

When I finished Joe handed me a beer and a bottle of Jack. “I thought my wife was a firecracker.”

“Myk isn’t a firecracker, she a fucking ticking time bomb.” I drank from the bottle twice before chugging the beer.

Eve, the dumb bitch tentatively sat on the floor by Myk’s head. “I’m sorry Myk. Nothing happened.”

“And nothing will or I’ll kill you both.” Myk spat blood on the floor where my elbow accidentally caught her jaw in our struggle.

I handed Joe the bottles back. “Say goodbye Mykela. Time to go home.”

Eve fell on Mykela and started sobbing. “NO!! Don’t leave me! Please! I didn’t mean it. I was just lonely. You know why I was lonely Myk please!! Don’t let them take you from me.”

Myk’s eyes are on mine. “Bring her, or I’ll make your life a living hell.”

I raised my eyebrow at her, “And that would be different, how?”

  “Fuck you.” She shot back.

“I think that’s exactly what you need. What’s it been wife? Six years?”

“Seven and a half you asshole. Untie me.”

“Not going to happen. Eve, get up.” I motioned for her to come to me.

She buried her face in Myk’s neck. “I won’t leave you.”

“Go Eve. Get out of here and get a life. A life you deserve. I’m no good for you, never have been.”

“I love you!!” Eve sobbed into Myk’s neck and wrapped her arms around my wife’s neck. “I won’t leave you!!”

“Even though she wants to kill you??” Gunner asked replacing Joe at my side.

I glanced over at him. “She has that effect of people.”

“Fuck you Cord.” Myk shot back.

“Say goodbye to your play toy Myk.” I grabbed the back of her jeans and started carrying her out like a six-pack of beer.

Eve attached herself to Myk’s arm. “I’ll do anything.” She promised as we crossed the bar.

“Short of sucking my dick Eve, there’s not a damn thing you can do to convince me to take you along on this ride. Myk needs me, not you. You’re just a distraction.” I shoved Myk in the back of Gunner’s pickup truck and closed the tailgate.

Eve grabbed my arm and looked up at me with bloodshot swollen brown eyes. “If that’s what you want, fine, but I need to be with her. We had a bad fight. I’m sorry for the way I handled it. Please please please, just don’t make me live without her. I can’t. I won’t. I’ll kill myself. I promise.”

I sighed and pulled open the passenger door. “Get in.” I slammed the door as soon as she settled in. “Stupid bitch.”

The drive to the airport proved enlightening.

Myk rolled herself over and managed to get out of the ropes before I could pull onto 60. Thankfully the back window was open or Gunner would need a new window. My beautifully dark haired, and disheveled, wife squeezed her skinny ass through the window and sat down in the middle of the back seat.

I instinctively put my arm across the back of the front seat to brace myself for her assault. The only question is which one she strikes at first. “I’m driving Myk, don’t fuck up.” I glanced in my rear view mirror for her.

She ignored me and drilled holes in Eve’s head with her eyes. “What the fuck did you think you were doing?” I know that tone and braced myself to protect Eve.

“Eve, turn around and sit backwards. Take your seatbelt off. “I unhooked it for her.

  “Isn’t that illegal?”

“So is murder, and right now you need to be more worried about what’s behind you than in front of you.” I informed her as she turned in her seat so she can look Myk in the eye.

“I wanted to punish you, but I didn’t want it to get personal.” Eve looked down at her fingers.

“It was personal the second you let him touch you. You fuck him?”

  She shook her head.

“Look me in the eye and tell me you didn’t fuck Goat.” Myk ordered. Damn, she sounds a lot like me. I shouldn’t be surprised.

Eve looked up. “I didn’t, but I was going to. It’s just as bad.”

“No. It’s not.” Myk replied before rubbing and cracking her wrists.

“Myk.” I warned using her name.

“Relax asshole.” She smacked the back of my head. “Where’s your fucking hat?” She asked.

“I left it in the chopper. Mind telling me what’s going on here?” I looked for her in the mirror but she’s glaring at Eve. “Myk?”

She ignored me and spoke to Eve. “I warned you
Eve. I fucking warned you not to fall for me. I told you I’d push you away. Why are you such a glutton for punishment??”

“Easy Myk.” I put my arm back up between them. Mykela snaps fast and hard.

“Fuck off Cord. She’s my wife, I’ll talk to her however I fucking want.”

“Last time I checked you were my wife. Now unless they’ve legalized some shit down here I don’t know about, you’re still my wife.”

“Only because you won’t give me a divorce.” She argued.

“You two are really married??” Eve leaned forward braving Myk. “Why didn’t you tell me you were married??!!”

“It’s none of your business. You and I aren’t married legally. It’s just a word.”

Eve bravely smacked Myk right across the face. “BITCH!!”

Myk’s taken worse hits so she didn’t even flinch. “True.”

“Eve, sit back honey.” I urged with the help of my hand. “My wife can kill you in less than half a second from where she is. You need to sit back.”

“Why do you keep saying she’s going to kill me? You act like she’s some kind of murderer.” Eve accused looking between us.

Myk slid over to the seat directly behind Eve and shut down. She looks like she’s staring out the window, but I know exactly where she is inside that warped head of hers.

I patted the seat. “You can sit back now. Put your seatbelt back on.”

She sat back and buckled herself in. “I’m so tired.” She wiped at her face presumably at tears.

“You can sleep once we get in the air.”

“I’ll never sleep again. I fucked up Cord. I fucked up so bad.”

“Nobody’s fucked up worse than Mykela. She’ll forgive you if for no other reason than by not forgiving you, that makes her a hypocrite.”

“I never cheated on you asshole.” Myk surprisingly chimed in.
